6 activities to add to your visit to St. Albans
We love to deliver our bouquets to St Albans in Hertfordshire. Here we list our favourite spots in this historic city. As well as some bouquet inspo to suit residents of this idyllic location.
Head north for a St Albans escape
Less than an hour from London, St Albans has existed since Roman times. Dominated by its Norman cathedral, there's so much for the 21st century visitor to enjoy.
Enjoy the splendour of St Albans Cathedral
The town grew up around the shrine to St Alban. William The Conqueror then commissioned a new church, which was started in 1077. Inside you can see magnificent medieval wall paintings, and its architecture. It actually doubled as Westminster Abbey in Netflix's The Crown.
The cathedral often includes some amazing floral displays. There is also a Flower Festival, so do check out its events guide.
Explore quirky streets
St Albans is a pretty compact city, making it very walkable. Lots of independent boutiques, cafes, gift shops and pubs line its streets. Some of the most intriguing shops can be found on George Street, Catherine Street, and St Peter's Street.
A market has been taking place in St Albans for hundreds of years. If you visit on a Wednesday or Saturday, you can join in the tradition.
St Albans is hilly, so you will have earned that tasty treat! There are more than 100 eateries to choose from. Want to lap up some history alongside your tipple? Dating back to 793, Ye Olde Fighting Cocks is England's oldest pub.
Festival fiestas
St Albans hosts lots of festivals across the seasons, including:
• January: Roman Festival
• September: St Albans Feastival with street food, live music and local produce
• November/December: Christmas market outside the cathedral
Petal power in Clarence Park
St Albans is lucky enough to have the 25 acre Clarence Park at its heart. We particularly love its sensory garden and formal planting, especially the rose beds. It's such a serene haven.
Roaming with the Romans
Just south-west of modern St Albans, you can find the remains of the Roman town of Verulamium. Some of the massive walls can still be seen in Verulamium Park.
As florists, we aren't keen on central heating, as it can make flowers droop. But even we were impressed by the Romans' Hypocaust heating system which can still be seen. And of course we love the floral motif mosaics! There are even more gorgeous mosaics in the fascinating Verulamium Museum.

A nod to the history
The Romans may have lived centuries ago, but their influence lingers on. Our Rome Bouquet was inspired by The Eternal City itself. It includes white dahlia, purple astrantia and dianthus:
